Yeah, that's a common way to void the warranty. Repairs attempted by anyone other than Milwaukee authorized personnel are explicitly not covered.

- Call 1-800-SAWDUST to locate your nearest Milwaukee factory Service Center or Authorized Service Station.
- You will be responsible for the cost of repair.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The standard five-year tool warranty is now null for this issue. The warranty only covers defects in material or workmanship as determined by Milwaukee after their examination.
HEADS UP: Next time, if the tool is under five years old and you suspect a defect, send it in untouched. They'll examine it and determine if it's a covered defect or damage from misuse/accidents.
