can i use my dewalt 20v charger outdoors? it's drizzling a bit.

You should not use the charger in the rain or snow. Doing so creates a risk of electric shock. Water getting inside the charger is a serious hazard.

Here's what you need to do for safe outdoor charging:

  1. Always provide a dry location for the charger. This could be inside a garage, shed, or under a substantial canopy that protects from all moisture.
  2. If you must use an extension cord to reach that dry location, it must be a cord suitable for outdoor use. The label on the cord will state if it's for outdoor use.
  3. That outdoor extension cord also needs the correct wire gauge (AWG) for its length to prevent overheating. Refer to the gauge chart: for a 100-foot cord at 120V, you need 14 AWG wire.

If that's not possible, wait until you can move the charger and battery to a dry, indoor location. Never operate the charger with a damaged cord or plug, and don't place it on a soft surface that can block its ventilation slots.

Heads up: Pull by the plug, not the cord, when disconnecting. This prevents damage to the electrical connections.
