DIAGNOSIS You're likely confusing the two main controls. The grind size knob (often numbered 1-7) changes how fine the beans are ground. The coffee quantity knob (often with a cup icon) changes how much ground coffee is dosed into the basket. Strength is a combination of both.
FIX For a stronger, more intense shot: 1) First, adjust the grind size to a finer setting (a lower number). This creates more resistance for the water, leading to a slower, richer extraction. 2) Then, adjust the coffee quantity to a higher setting (more grams of coffee). This gives you a thicker coffee puck. Make one change at a time and taste the result. Start with the grind. If you go too fine, the machine might struggle or the coffee will taste bitter.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the coffee still tastes weak after adjusting both, your beans might be the issue. Old, stale, or lightly roasted beans will naturally produce a weaker, flatter taste. Try a fresh, dark roast espresso blend and run a cleaning cycle to ensure no old oils are contaminating the flavor.
HEADS UP The grind setting is sensitive. Only adjust it while the grinder is running (press a single coffee button without a cup underneath). A quarter-turn can make a big difference. Don't force it past its stops. And remember, a stronger shot isn't just about volume—it's about the quality of the extraction.
