Diagnosis
The setup process for the SmartHQ feature on this model is notoriously finicky. It usually fails because the dishwasher's wireless module isn't properly activated or your phone isn't on the right network during setup.
How to Fix It
The key is the exact sequence. 1) On the dishwasher, press and hold the "Heated Dry" and "Delay Start" buttons for 3 seconds until all lights flash. This puts it in pairing mode. 2) On your phone, connect directly to the dishwasher's temporary Wi-Fi network (it'll start with "WP_"). 3) *Then* open the Whirlpool app and follow the prompts to connect it to your home's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
If That Didn't Work
Try a full reset. Unplug the dishwasher for 5 minutes, then plug it back in and immediately try the pairing sequence again. Also, ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz signal (it won't connect to 5 GHz).
Heads Up
The dishwasher's wireless module can sometimes just fail. If you've tried the sequence multiple times on a confirmed 2.4 GHz network and it never shows the "WP_" network, the internal card may need replacement.
