DIAGNOSIS VPN Fusion is powerful but finicky. The most common setup mistakes are incorrect VPN client configuration files, rules that don't target the right device, or simply not enabling the policy.
FIX First, go to VPN -> VPN Fusion in the router settings. Under "VPN Client," make sure you've uploaded a valid OpenVPN config file (.ovpn) from your VPN provider and it shows as "Connected." Then, go to the "Policy" section below. 1) Click "Add." 2) Give it a name. 3) Select "VPN Client" as the interface. 4) In the "Source" field, select your device (by IP or MAC address). 5) Click "OK" and then Enable
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Many commercial VPNs need specific settings. In the VPN Client setup, try setting "Force Internet traffic through tunnel" to "Yes." Also, some providers require you to enter your username and password directly in the router's setup fields, not just in the .ovpn file.
HEADS UP Your device will now have two IP addresses: its local one and the VPN's public one. To test, with the policy enabled, go to a site like "whatismyip.com" on that device. It should show the VPN's IP, not your home IP. If it doesn't, double-check that you selected the correct device in the policy rule.
