This tells the monitor that the darkest black is actually a dark gray, resulting in a hazy, milky overlay across the entire screen. You can confirm this by looking at a purely black image; if the blacks look dark gray rather than deep ink, it is a range mismatch. If the blacks are deep but the colors are pale, it is an OSD profile issue.
How to Fix It
Follow these steps in precise order to calibrate the image and restore color vibrancy:
- Adjust GPU Output Range: If using an NVIDIA GPU, right-click your desktop and open the NVIDIA Control Panel. Navigate to Display > Change resolution. Scroll down to "Output dynamic range" and change it from "Limited" to "Full." Click Apply. For AMD users, go to Gaming > Display and ensure "Pixel Format" is set to "RGB 4:4:4 Pixel Format Full RGB."
- Set the OSD Color Profile: Use the joystick on the back of the monitor to open the On-Screen Display (OSD). Navigate to Setting > Color Adjust. Change the "Color Temperature" to "User" and manually adjust the Red, Green, and Blue sliders to 100 to ensure no channel is being suppressed. If you want a quicker fix, select the "sRGB" profile, which is generally the most color-accurate for QHD content.
- Correct the Gamma: While still in the Color Adjust menu, locate the "Gamma" setting. The factory default is often set to a higher value that washes out the image. Manually switch this to "Gamma 2.2." This is the industry standard for Windows and will instantly deepen the mid-tones and make colors pop.
- Disable Blue Light Filter: Navigate to Setting > Blue Light Filter. Ensure this is set to "0." If this is active, the screen will have a yellow/pale tint that makes whites look dull and colors appear muted.
- Adjust Brightness/Contrast: Set "Brightness" to 70-80% and "Contrast" to 75%. Pushing contrast above 80% on this specific VA panel often leads to "clipping," where bright areas lose all detail and become pure white.
If That Didn't Work
- Check HDR Settings: If you have "HDR" enabled in Windows 10/11 Display Settings, disable it. The VX2768-2KP-MHD is not a true HDR-certified display with local dimming; forcing HDR mode often results in a "grayed out" look for SDR content (like your desktop and browser) because the monitor is trying to map a dynamic range it cannot physically produce.
