liftmaster 8500w won't connect to my wifi for the myq app, it just times out.

DIAGNOSIS The opener's built-in MyQ receiver has a weak signal or can't handshake with your router.

FIX Move your router closer or install a wifi extender. The 8500W has a basic 2.4GHz radio. During setup, temporarily disable the 5GHz band on your router. Use the MyQ app, press the learn button on the opener for 2 seconds, and follow the prompts immediately.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The logic board's wifi module may have failed. You can add an external MyQ Gateway (model #MYQ-G0301). Plug it into an outlet and connect it to the opener's learn button instead.

HEADS UP The opener itself does not get internet updates. All connectivity is handled through the MyQ cloud service via the app.
