Diagnosis
This is usually a mesh connection problem. The point is having trouble maintaining a stable wireless backhaul link to the main router or another point, often due to distance, physical obstacles, or wireless interference.
How to Fix It
First, check its placement. The point needs to be within a good, clear range of another unit—ideally no more than one or two rooms away, and not buried in a metal cabinet or behind a large appliance. In the Google Home app, go to your device, then Settings > Test Mesh. It’ll tell you the connection strength. If it’s weak, physically move the point closer and run the test again.
If That Didn't Work
The issue might be interference from other wireless devices. Try changing the placement to avoid direct lines with things like cordless phone bases, microwave ovens, or even certain types of LED light bulbs. As a last resort, power cycle the whole system: unplug the main router and all points for two minutes, then plug the main router back in, wait for it to be ready, then plug in the points one by one.
Heads Up
Avoid daisy-chaining points. Each point should connect directly to the main router or to a point that itself has a very strong connection. If Point B connects to a weak Point A, Point B will always be unstable.
