my ninja coffee maker just turned off by itself in the middle of brewing and now it won't turn back on at all.

DIAGNOSIS This is a classic thermal overload shutdown. The machine has a safety fuse that trips if the heating system gets too hot, often because of a mineral-clogged element or a failed thermostat.

FIX Unplug the machine from the wall and let it cool down completely for at least two hours. This gives the internal thermal fuse a chance to reset. After it's cool, plug it directly into a wall outlet (not a power strip) and try turning it on. If it powers up, immediately run a descaling cycle as outlined in the first fix—the overload was likely a warning sign of scale buildup.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Check your home's circuit breaker or GFCI outlet. Sometimes a brief power surge during brewing can trip a GFCI in your kitchen. Reset any tripped outlets or breakers before trying the machine again.

HEADS UP If the machine repeatedly trips off like this, stop using it. Continuing to force it on can damage the control board and turn a simple fix into an expensive one.
