When the system displays "Filter Life Expired," it is not actually detecting the physical state of the carbon or membrane; it is simply reporting that the internal clock has reached the pre-set gallon limit for that specific filter stage. Because the filters are not electronically "tagged" with RFID chips that communicate automatically with the motherboard, the system has no way of knowing you have physically swapped the cartridges. This creates a disconnect where the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) reading may show a healthy drop in contaminants, but the alert remains active because the digital counter is still set to 0%. To confirm this is a software reset issue and not a hardware failure, check if the water is flowing normally and the TDS reading is within your expected range (typically below 20 ppm for RO water). If the water is clean but the screen is red/flashing, the logic board simply needs a manual override to restart the countdown.
How to Fix It
To synchronize the digital display with your new hardware, you must perform a hard reset of the filter life monitor on the faucet control panel. Follow these exact steps:
- Ensure the system is plugged in and the main water supply valve is open.
- Locate the control panel on the faucet head. You will see the digital display and the touch-sensitive buttons.
- Press and hold the 'Select' button and the 'Flush' button simultaneously.
- Maintain a firm press for exactly 5 to 8 seconds. Do not let go prematurely.
- Watch the LED screen; it will flash briefly, and the "Filter Life Expired" message will disappear, replaced by a "100%" indicator or a reset confirmation symbol.
- Release both buttons once the percentage returns to 100%.
- Run the faucet for 2-3 minutes to flush any air pockets from the new filters, which will stabilize the TDS reading on the screen.
If That Didn't Work
- Perform a Power Cycle: Unplug the power adapter from the wall outlet for 60 seconds. While unplugged, press and hold the reset buttons mentioned above. Plug the unit back in and attempt the button sequence again. This clears the temporary cache on the control board.
- Check for Button Obstructions: Ensure there is no mineral buildup (calcium/scale) around the edges of the touch buttons. Use a damp microfiber cloth to clean the panel surface; if the capacitive sensors are blocked by grime, they may not register a simultaneous press of both buttons.
- Verify Filter Seating: Ensure all filters are twisted fully into the "locked" position. If a filter is slightly loose, the system may trigger a generic error or fail to accept a reset command because it detects a pressure imbalance in the line.
