red light is on my apec ro faucet. what does that mean?

— asked by Amanda

The red light on an APEC faucet is a filter change indicator. It activates on a timer to signal that pre-filter replacement is due.

Fix:

  • Replace your stage 1 (sediment) and stage 2 (carbon block) pre-filters.
  • After replacing the filters, reset the indicator. The reset method varies by faucet model. Typically, you press and hold a button on the faucet base or the indicator module itself for 5-10 seconds until the light turns blue or green.

If that didn't work: If the light returns immediately or the water flow/taste is still poor after changing pre-filters, your RO membrane (stage 3) may also be exhausted and require replacement. The standard membrane change interval is 2-3 years.

Heads up: This is a reminder light only. You should also periodically test your product water's TDS to objectively verify system performance, as the timer does not measure actual water quality.
