Diagnosis
The thermal overload protector is kicking in and shutting the motor down because it's overheating, usually because it's trying to start under load.
How to Fix It
The most common cause is the pump being under pressure when you start it. Here's the correct sequence: 1) Turn the unit's power switch OFF. 2) Make sure the spray wand trigger is unlocked (not pressed). 3) Turn on the water supply and let it run through the machine for 10 seconds to ensure the pump is full of water. 4) Now, turn the unit's power switch ON. You should hear the motor run smoothly. Then you can pull the trigger. Starting with the trigger locked or pressed puts immediate load on the motor and trips the protector.
If That Didn't Work
Let the unit cool down completely for 30 minutes. If it starts fine after that, you likely just had a previous overheating event. If it still trips immediately, there could be a faulty thermal switch or a motor bearing issue, which would require service.
Heads Up
Always start with water flowing and the trigger released. Think of it like starting a car in neutral, not in gear.
