DIAGNOSIS The printhead nozzles are clogged with dried ink. This is the most common issue with inkjet printers that sit unused.
FIX Run the deep cleaning cycle from your computer. Open Canon Printer Utility. Select your printer. Go to Maintenance. Select "Deep Cleaning." Run it for the color printhead. Then run it for the black printhead. This uses a lot of ink.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Manually clean the printhead. Turn off the printer. Open the cartridge cover. Unplug the power cord. Dampen a paper towel with distilled water. Place it flat in the capping station area under the parked printhead. Gently move the printhead onto the damp towel. Let it sit for an hour to soak.
HEADS UP Never use tap water or rubbing alcohol. Minerals can cause permanent clogs. If streaks persist after three cleanings, the printhead itself is likely failing and needs replacement.
