Diagnosis
You risk damaging the anti-glare coating and matte surface of the panel. Incorrect cleaning fluids can cause permanent streaking or clouding.
How to Fix It
Power off and unplug the monitor. Use a dry, soft microfiber cloth designed for eyewear or lenses. Gently wipe the screen in a circular motion to lift dust. For smudges, lightly dampen a second microfiber cloth with distilled water only. Wring it out completely so it is barely damp. Wipe the screen gently, then immediately dry with the first dry cloth.
If That Didn't Work
For stubborn marks, use a monitor-specific cleaning spray. Apply the spray directly onto the dry microfiber cloth, never onto the screen. Ensure the cleaner is labeled as safe for anti-glare (matte) LCD coatings. Follow the same damp-wipe and immediate dry-wipe process.
Heads Up
Never use isopropyl alcohol, window cleaner, ammonia-based solutions, or paper towels. These will degrade the coating. Avoid excessive pressure, especially near the edges. The screen surface is not glass; it is a soft plastic laminate.
