canon mg3620 alarm light flashing and won't print, what does that mean?

— asked by Sam

The Alarm lamp flash pattern indicates a specific maintenance function or error. Count the flashes.

  • Two flashes (hold Stop button): Initiates standard print head cleaning.
  • Three flashes (hold Stop button): Initiates deep print head cleaning.
  • Seven flashes (hold Stop button): Initiates paper feed roller cleaning.
  • Eight flashes (hold Stop button): Initiates bottom plate (inside) cleaning.

If that didn't work: If the lamp is flashing in a pattern not listed here, check the ink status lamps. An ink cartridge may be empty or incorrectly installed.

Heads up: During any cleaning cycle (1-2 minutes), do not perform other operations or touch the FINE cartridge holder until it stops completely.
