Unusual noise during operation often points to a mechanical obstruction or a dirty feed mechanism. Stop printing immediately.
First, power off the printer and inspect for any obvious obstructions like jammed paper fragments. Clear any debris.
If the noise seems related to paper feeding, the paper feed rollers likely need cleaning. Follow the paper feed roller cleaning procedure: remove all paper, open the output tray, hold Stop until the Alarm lamp flashes seven times. After the rollers stop, load a single sheet of plain paper, hold Stop for seven flashes again to complete the cleaning cycle.
If that didn't work: If the noise persists after cleaning and no jam is present, a internal component may be damaged. Do not hold or force the FINE cartridge holder. Contact Canon service.
Heads up: Forcing the mechanism can cause serious damage.
