Diagnosis
Moisture from cleaning has seeped behind the control panel and is shorting out or confusing the membrane touchpad. It's a common issue with over-the-range models where cleaners spray around the buttons.
How to Fix It
Unplug the unit immediately. Let it air dry for at least 24-48 hours with the door open in a warm, dry room. Use a fan or a hairdryer on a cool, low setting to blow air across the panel (no heat, as heat can warp the plastic). This gives the moisture under the sealed membrane time to evaporate.
If That Didn't Work
If buttons are permanently unresponsive after drying, the membrane switch assembly itself is damaged and needs replacement. This involves removing the control panel, which is a detailed job requiring you to disconnect many wire harnesses.
Heads Up
Prevention is key. Never spray cleaner directly on the control panel. Spray a soft cloth first, then wipe. For the future, a slightly damp cloth is all you need for the touchpad area. Soaking it is a sure way to kill it.
