coffee is coming out way too weak and cold from my technivorm moccamaster kbv select, even on the strong setting.

DIAGNOSIS The brew water temperature is insufficient. The primary cause is a clogged or scaled-up showerhead, preventing proper water dispersion over the grounds.

FIX Descale the entire machine following Technivorm's citric acid protocol. For the showerhead specifically: remove the brew basket and lid. Unscrew the two small Phillips-head screws on the showerhead plate. Soak the plate and its rubber gasket in a descaling solution or white vinegar for 30 minutes. Scrub the tiny holes with a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and reassemble.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Verify the brew basket selector switch is fully engaged in either the 'full' or 'half' carafe position. If set incorrectly, the bypass door may be open, allowing water to flow around the grounds.

HEADS UP The heating element maintains a fixed 196-205°F brew temperature. If descaling does not restore proper heat, the thermostat or element is faulty and requires professional service.
