Diagnosis
Water is escaping from the internal condensate collection area, usually because the internal drain plug is missing, improperly seated, or the unit is tilted.
How to Fix It
Power off and unplug. Check the small black rubber drain plug on the back, near the bottom. It must be pushed in firmly and completely. If it's missing, you can order a replacement or temporarily use a rubber wine stopper. Ensure the unit is level front-to-back and side-to-side.
If That Didn't Work
The leak could be from a cracked internal condensate pan or a disconnected drain tube inside the chassis. This requires disassembly. Look for signs of ice buildup on the coils—if the evaporator freezes over, the meltwater can overflow the drain channels.
Heads Up
Leaking is often a symptom of a dirty air filter causing the evaporator coil to get too cold and frost over. Always rule out a clogged filter before assuming a mechanical leak.
