DIAGNOSIS The eero 6+ uses a passive cooling design. It is normal for the underside to feel warm (40-50°C / 104-122°F) during operation. Excessive heat indicates poor ventilation.
FIX Improve airflow. Ensure the eero is placed on a hard, flat surface. Do not place it on carpet, inside an enclosed cabinet, or on top of other warm electronics like a DVR or amplifier. Leave at least 2 inches of clear space on all sides, especially the top and bottom vents.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Heat can be a symptom of constant maximum radio power output. In the eero app, go to Settings > Troubleshooting > Device Health. Check radio utilization. If consistently above 80%, you may have too few nodes for your space, forcing each to work harder.
HEADS UP The device is designed to throttle performance (thermal throttling) to protect itself if internal temperatures exceed safe limits. This will manifest as sudden speed drops or latency spikes. Persistent overheating can shorten the internal power supply's lifespan.
