getting a 'something went wrong' error in the google home app when trying to set up from scratch

— asked by Morgan

DIAGNOSIS This is a provisioning failure. Common causes are an unstable Bluetooth connection during setup, an outdated Google Home app, or an incorrect device location permission.

FIX Follow this checklist. Force quit the Google Home app. Update the Google Home app to the latest version in your device's app store. On your phone, ensure Location Services and Bluetooth are enabled. Restart your phone. Begin setup again, ensuring the router's LED is slowly pulsing white.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The phone may be connecting to the wrong Wi-Fi network during the process. Before starting setup, go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and forget all other 2.4GHz networks with names similar to "NestWifiPro". Use a different smartphone as the setup device if possible.

HEADS UP You cannot set up a Nest Wifi Pro system using an iPad or tablet as the primary device. You must use an Android phone or iPhone.
