how do i reset the filter change indicator on my brita pitcher?

— asked by Alex

You need to reset it whenever you install a new filter so it knows which type you're using and can start counting correctly.

  1. First, make sure you have a new filter installed properly in the reservoir.
  2. Find the STATUS button on the lid.
  3. Press and hold it down. Don't let go yet.
  4. Now, check your filter color. If it's a blue Brita LONGLAST filter, keep holding the button for a full 6 seconds. Release it only after you see the green light next to LONGLAST FILTER blink three times by itself.
  5. If it's a white standard Brita filter, hold the button for 2 seconds. Release it after the green light next to STANDARD FILTER blinks three times by itself.

If you mess up and select the wrong mode, just repeat the process until you get the correct light sequence.

Remember, the indicator works by counting how many times you fill the reservoir, so for accurate tracking, always fill to the max line and only open the lid when you're adding water.
