Diagnosis
The "No Signal" loop on the Samsung Odyssey G7 32" is typically caused by a failure in the DisplayPort (DP) "handshake" process. When the PC boots or wakes from sleep, the monitor and the GPU must exchange a set of timing and capability signals. Because the G7 uses a high-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.4 connection to drive 144Hz+ refresh rates, the monitor's aggressive power-saving circuitry often puts the DP port into a "deep sleep" state that doesn't wake up fast enough to catch the initial signal from the GPU.
This is essentially a timing mismatch. The GPU sends the wake-up signal, but the monitor is still in a low-power state and fails to acknowledge it. By the time the monitor fully initializes, the GPU has timed out and stopped sending the signal, resulting in the "No Signal" black screen. Unplugging and replugging the cable forces a hardware-level "hot-plug" event, which triggers an immediate re-handshake, bypassing the sleep-state lag.
How to Fix It
To resolve this, you must disable the energy-saving features that prevent the monitor from staying "ready" for the GPU signal and disable the Windows feature that interferes with a clean hardware initialization.
- Using the JOG button (the small joystick under the center of the screen), open the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu.
- Navigate to System and then select Eco Solution.
- Locate Eco Saving Plus and set it to Off.
- Navigate to the System menu again and find DisplayPort Ver. Ensure it is set to 1.4 to match your GPU's output capability.
- Exit the OSD and boot into Windows.
- Open the Control Panel and go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click Choose what the power buttons do on the left-hand sidebar.
- Click the link at the top: Change settings that are currently unavailable (this requires Administrator privileges).
- Under "Shutdown settings," uncheck the box for Turn on fast startup (recommended). This ensures the GPU driver resets completely on every boot rather than loading a hibernated state.
- Click Save changes and restart your PC.
If That Didn't Work
If the handshake issue persists, try these targeted hardware and software adjustments:
- Switch to a VESA-Certified Cable: Many G7 monitors ship with cables that are barely compliant with DP 1.4 specs. If you are using the stock cable or a cheap third-party one, replace it with a VESA-certified DisplayPort 1.4 cable (specifically one rated for HBR3). A cable with a "Pin 20" power issue can also cause this; ensure your cable does not have power on the 20th pin.
- Change the Refresh Rate: In the NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Radeon Software, lower the refresh rate from 144Hz/240Hz to 120Hz temporarily. If the "No Signal" message disappears, the issue is likely signal attenuation in your cable, meaning the cable cannot maintain the high-bandwidth handshake.
- Disable Windows "Fast Boot" in BIOS: Enter your motherboard BIOS (usually by tapping Del or F2 during boot) and look for Fast Boot or Ultra Fast Boot. Set this to Disabled. This forces the motherboard to re-initialize the PCIe lanes and the GPU output more thoroughly during the POST process.
- Update GPU Firmware: For NVIDIA users (especially RTX 30-series), there is a specific "NVIDIA DisplayPort Firmware Update Tool" available on their support site. This updates the GPU's internal DP handshake logic to fix exactly this type of black-screen issue on boot.

- Avoid Daisy Chaining: If you have another monitor connected via the DP-Out port on the G7, disable this feature in the OSD to reduce the handshake complexity.
