Diagnosis
F16 is a water intake error. The dishwasher didn't get enough water within the expected time at the start of a cycle. The usual suspects are a kinked inlet hose, clogged filter screen, or low water pressure from your house supply.
How to Fix It
First, turn the machine off at the control panel. Check that the water supply valve under your sink is fully open. Next, pull the dishwasher out carefully and inspect the braided steel inlet hose for any sharp kinks or pinches. Then, disconnect the hose from the dishwasher's inlet valve (turn off water first!). There's a small cylindrical filter screen where the hose connects to the valve. Pull it out and rinse it under the tap to clear any sediment.
If That Didn't Work
The water inlet valve itself might be faulty and not opening properly. You can test it by listening for a distinct click and hum when a cycle starts—if you don't hear it, the valve's solenoid might be dead. The other possibility is a faulty pressure switch (aquastat) that misreports the water level, but the intake issue is more common.
Heads Up
After clearing any blockage, you need to clear the error code. Turn the machine off at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds, then back on. Just turning it off at the panel often won't reset stored error codes.
