DIAGNOSIS Yeah, this one's common. The printer's sensors are seeing a phantom jam, usually because a tiny piece of paper debris or a lot of toner dust is blocking one of the paper path sensors inside the machine.
FIX First, power off and unplug the printer. Open the front cover, the rear cover, and the single-page feed tray at the top. Get a flashlight and look deep into the paper path from both the front and rear openings. You're looking for any shred of paper. Use a pair of tweezers to gently pull out any debris you find. Then, take a can of compressed air and give the entire interior path a few good blasts to dislodge dust. Close everything up, plug it in, and power on.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The secondary culprit is the toner cartridge. A damaged cartridge or one that's not seated perfectly can trigger the jam sensor. Remove the toner cartridge, inspect it for physical damage (especially the green drum on the side), re-seat it firmly, and try again.
HEADS UP Be super gentle with the little paper pickup rollers when you're poking around. They can get nicked easily and then cause real feed problems later.
