my canon pixma mg3620 is printing with faded colors and missing lines, how do i fix this?

— asked by Chloe

The most likely cause is clogged print head nozzles. The first step is to perform a standard print head cleaning.

  1. Ensure the printer power is on.
  2. Press and hold the Stop button until the Alarm lamp flashes two times, then release immediately.
  3. Wait 1-2 minutes for the cleaning to finish, indicated by the ON lamp lighting after flashing. Do not operate the printer during this time.
  4. After cleaning, print a nozzle check pattern to verify the result.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK:

  • If print quality doesn't improve, perform a deep cleaning. Hold the Stop button until the Alarm lamp flashes three times, then release. Wait 1-2 minutes for completion and check with another nozzle pattern.
  • If the problem persists after deep cleaning, turn the printer off (do not unplug it), wait 24 hours, and perform deep cleaning again.
  • If issues remain after the second deep cleaning, the FINE cartridge may need replacement.

HEADS UP: Both cleaning methods consume ink, so only perform them when necessary. If the problem continues after replacing the FINE cartridge, contact Canon service.
