my desk is wobbly at standing height, especially when i type. did i build it wrong?

DIAGNOSIS Some wobble at full extension is normal, but excessive shaking is usually due to three things: an unlevel floor, an overloaded or unevenly weighted desktop, or loose frame bolts.

FIX Let's stabilize it. 1) Get a wrench and check every single bolt on the frame, especially the ones connecting the legs to the crossbeam and the crossbeam to the desktop. Tighten them firmly. Don't strip them, but make sure they're snug. 2) Redistribute the weight on the desk. Put your heaviest items (like the computer tower) directly over one of the legs, not in the center of the desk. 3) Check the adjustable feet. The desk must be level. Place a small level on the desktop and twist the feet at the bottom of each leg until the bubble is centered.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If you're on a thick carpet, the feet might be sinking in and creating a pivot point. Get a pair of large, solid plastic floor protectors or a small, stiff board to place under each foot to spread the load on a solid surface.

HEADS UP The E7 is a two-leg, single-motor design. It will inherently have more front-to-back wobble at full height than a four-leg commercial desk. If you're a heavy typer or use monitor arms, try lowering the standing height just an inch or two—it makes a big difference in stability.
