my dewalt dcd771 drill won't charge at all, the charger light doesn't even come on

The charger isn't getting power or is damaged. Check the power source and cord first.

  1. Plug the charger directly into a working 120V outlet. Do not use an extension cord unless absolutely necessary. If you must, ensure it's a heavy-gauge outdoor-rated cord. An undersized cord will cause a drop in voltage and overheating.
  2. Inspect the charger cord and plug for damage. Do not operate the charger with a damaged cord or plug.
  3. Make sure the cord is fully seated in the outlet and the charger. Pull by the plug, not the cord, when disconnecting.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The charger itself may have failed. Do not operate the charger if it has been dropped or received a sharp blow. Take it to an authorized DeWalt service center for repair. Do not disassemble it.

HEADS UP: Only charge DeWalt 20V Max battery packs with the designated charger. Using another charger creates a risk of fire.
