my dewalt dcd771 drill won't turn on at all, battery is charged, what's wrong?

— asked by Mike

The most likely cause is the forward/reverse control button is in the center, locked-off position.

  1. Check the control button on top of the trigger. The center position locks the tool off.
  2. Slide the button fully to the left or right. Ensure the trigger is released when you change the button's position.
  3. Squeeze the trigger. You should hear the motor engage.

IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The trigger switch itself may be faulty. A power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Do not attempt to force it or bypass it.

HEADS UP: If the tool has been dropped, take it to an authorized service center. Do not operate a tool that has been damaged.
