Diagnosis
The motion-activated light function has been disabled or is conflicting with a schedule or linked Light Group.
How to Fix It
Re-enable motion-activated lights in the Ring app.
- Go to the device dashboard, tap the light icon to enter Light Controls.
- Tap "Motion Settings" at the bottom.
- Ensure "When Motion is Detected" is set to "Lights On."
- Immediately below, verify the motion zones are active and cover the area you want.
If That Didn't Work
Check for a conflicting schedule or group. Go to the main Menu > Smart Lighting (or Linked Devices). If the floodlight is part of a Schedule or a Group with other lights, those rules override individual motion settings. Delete any schedules/groups as a test.
Heads Up
The "Smart Alerts" setting (People Only vs. All Motion) does not affect the lights. Lights will trigger for any motion if the above settings are correct, regardless of alert type.
