Diagnosis
The display is showing an error code. 'FF' indicates a communication failure between the main PCB and the display PCB. '22' indicates a problem with the freezer temperature sensor (RT2).
How to Fix It
For code '22': Unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes. This resets the control board. Plug it back in. If '22' returns, the freezer sensor is likely faulty and requires replacement. The sensor is located behind the rear interior panel of the freezer compartment. For code 'FF': The reset may also clear it. If it persists, the ribbon cable connecting the two boards may be loose or damaged.
If That Didn't Work
Persistent codes after a reset point to a failed component. Code '22' means a defective sensor (part # DA97-12037A) or its wiring. Code 'FF' means a faulty main control board (part # DA97-11457A) or display board. These require part-specific replacement.
Heads Up
Do not ignore these codes. The refrigerator may enter a protection mode and not cool properly. Write down the exact code sequence before unplugging for service.
