Diagnosis
Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8125's persistent Wi-Fi connection issues are typically caused by interference, an outdated network configuration, or a temporary software glitch in the printer. Common culprits include the printer being too far from the router, signal interference from other devices, an incorrect Wi-Fi password stored in the printer's memory, or an outdated printer firmware version.
How to Fix It
First, perform a full power cycle: turn off the printer and your wireless router, wait 30 seconds, turn the router back on and let it fully boot, then turn the printer on. If the problem persists, reconnect the printer to your network from scratch.
- On the printer's control panel, tap the Wireless icon (or go to Setup > Wireless Settings).
- Select "Restore Network Defaults" or "Clear Network Settings" to erase the old connection.
- Choose "Wireless Setup Wizard" and select your network name (SSID) from the list.
- Enter your Wi-Fi password carefully. If connecting to a dual-band router, try the 2.4 GHz network for better range and compatibility.
- Complete the setup and print a Wireless Network Test report from the control panel to confirm a successful connection.
If That Didn't Work
Update the printer's firmware. With the printer on, press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 3 seconds. This forces the printer to check for and install any available firmware updates over its existing connection. If it's completely offline, you can download the latest firmware from the HP support website to a computer and install it via USB cable. Also, check your router for any MAC filtering or access control lists and ensure the printer's MAC address (found on the network test report) is allowed.

Avoid placing the printer near microwaves, cordless phones, large metal objects, or thick walls, as these can severely disrupt the Wi-Fi signal. For the most stable connection, a 2.4 GHz network is generally more reliable than 5 GHz for printers, though the OfficeJet Pro 8125 supports both.
