my husqvarna 455 rancher won't start at all, not even a sputter. i just gassed it up. what gives?

Most likely a fuel or spark issue. Check the basics first.

1. Confirm the chain brake is disengaged. The saw won't start if it's on.
2. Set the master control lever to the cold start position (choke).
3. Press the decompression valve if equipped to reduce starting effort.
4. Pull the starter cord firmly until you hear the engine attempt to fire.
5. Immediately move the master control lever to the half-throttle (fast idle) position and pull again to start.

If that didn't work, check the spark plug for fouling or no spark. Verify you're using fresh, properly mixed 2-stroke fuel (50:1 gas to oil ratio). Old fuel is a common culprit.
