Excessive heat is a warning sign. It can indicate abusive conditions or a problem with the battery or tool.
First, stop using it. Let it cool down in a safe, dry place away from flammable materials.
Causes and fixes:
- Forcing the Saw: Pushing too hard causes the motor to overwork, drawing excessive current from the battery. The blade should cut without slowing.
- Wrong Battery: You must use only BL1815N, BL1820, BL1830, BL1840, or BL1850 cartridges. Others can create a risk of fire.
- Short Circuit Risk: Check the battery terminals. They must not contact other metal objects like nails, coins, or keys. Store the battery pack away from such items.
If the battery is damaged, do not use it. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected. Avoid contact. If contact occurs, flush with water. If it contacts eyes, seek medical help.
Do not store the tool or battery where temperatures can reach 50°C (122°F). Have a qualified repair person inspect the tool and battery.
