Diagnosis
The unit is in its initial defrost cycle or the ambient room temperature is too low for standard operation. These units have a built-in frost sensor that locks out the compressor in cold conditions.
How to Fix It
First, check the room temperature. If it's below 65°F (18°C), that's your culprit. Move it to a warmer space or warm the room. If the temp is fine, just wait. The initial power-on can trigger a prolonged 5-10 minute system check and defrost cycle before the compressor kicks in. Don't touch it for 15 minutes.
If That Didn't Work
Unplug it, wait 2 minutes, and plug it directly into a wall outlet—not a power strip or extension cord. The compressor's startup surge can trip weak circuits or strips, causing the reboot cycle.
Heads Up
This model is designed for warmer, wet conditions. Running it consistently in a cool basement (like below 60°F) will make it spend more time in defrost mode than dehumidifying mode.
