my pixma mg3620 isn't feeding paper right, it jams or pulls multiple sheets. do i need to clean something?

— asked by Jake

Yes, dirty paper feed rollers are the culprit. Clean them.

From the printer:

  1. Power on. Remove all paper from the front tray.
  2. Open the paper output tray.
  3. Hold the Stop button until the Alarm lamp flashes seven times, release. The rollers will spin clean.
  4. Once they stop, close the output tray, load one sheet of plain A4 or Letter paper (or a store-bought cleaning sheet) into the front tray.
  5. Open the output tray extension and support.
  6. Hold the Stop button until the Alarm lamp flashes seven times again, release. The page will eject, completing the clean.

From your computer:

  • Open the printer driver setup window.
  • Go to the Maintenance tab, click 'Roller Cleaning'.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts: remove all paper first, then load a single sheet when instructed.

If that didn't work: Check for tiny paper scraps stuck inside. If the problem continues after cleaning, the rollers may be worn out—contact service.

Heads up: This cleaning wears the rollers a bit, so only do it when necessary.
