The node will handle assigning IP addresses to all those devices. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If devices plugged into the switch don't get an internet connection, the cable might be bad. Try a different cable between the node and the switch. Also, make sure you're plugging into the node's LAN port, not the WAN port (the WAN port is only used on the main router node to connect to your modem). HEADS UP Don't create a loop. Never connect two ports on the same switch together with a cable, and never connect a node back to the main router or another node with two separate Ethernet cables. One cable from node to switch is all you need.

after the latest firmware update, my zenwifi feels slower and i see 'system process' using high cpu in the app.

how do i get my xt8 to work with my isp's modem/router combo unit? it keeps causing a double nat.

This gently kicks a clinging device off a weak signal, encouraging it to hop to the stronger node or the better band. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Check if Smart Connect is on (it blends the 2.4 and 5GHz SSIDs). Sometimes it makes poor choices. You can turn Smart Connect off in the same Wireless menu to create separate networks (like MyWiFi_2G and MyWiFi_5G), then manually connect your device to the 5G one. HEADS UP The speed you get on a node also depends heavily on that node's own wireless connection back to the main router. If that backhaul link is weak, everything connected to that node will be slow.

my asus xt8 mesh system shows a solid red light on one of the nodes and won't connect, what do i do?

Use a pin to press the hidden reset button on the red node for about 5 seconds until it flashes. Then set it up again as a new node in the Asus Router app. HEADS UP Avoid putting the nodes in a direct line through too many thick walls or large metal appliances. The 5GHz backhaul band they use for talking to each other needs a decently clear path.
