the orbi app says my firmware update failed and now my system is acting weird.

Let it run when no one is streaming or gaming.

how do i factory reset this thing? i lost the admin password and the app won't let me in.

FIX Find the reset pinhole on the back of the Orbi router (it's next to the Ethernet ports). You'll need a paperclip. 1) With the router powered ON, straighten the paperclip and press and hold the reset button. 2) You'll see the ring light turn amber. Keep holding. After about 10 seconds, the light will start blinking amber. Keep holding. 3) After about 30 seconds total, when the light starts to pulse white, you can let go. The router will reboot itself. This process can take up to 5 minutes. When it's done, it will be factory fresh. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If the light sequence didn't happen as described, unplug the router, press and hold the reset button with the paperclip, and then plug the power back in while still holding the button. Continue holding for 30 seconds after power is applied, then release. This is the "power-on reset" method and is more forceful. HEADS UP This resets ONLY the router you pressed the button on. Your satellites will need to be re-synced. Also, after the reset, you'll need to set up your WiFi network name and password again from scratch, and all your connected devices will lose their connection.

the internet speed from my satellite is way slower than from the main router, like half or less.

Move it closer to the router. Second, log into the web interface at orbilogin.com. Go to Advanced > Wireless Settings and try changing the Backhaul Connection Priority to "6GHz Preferred" if you have the RBKE963. This forces the satellite to use the faster, less crowded 6GHz band to talk to the router. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The ultimate fix is to run an Ethernet cable from the router's LAN port to the satellite's LAN port. This creates a wired backhaul, which is faster and more reliable than any wireless connection. Once connected, the system will automatically use the Ethernet for backhaul. HEADS UP Don't judge satellite placement by WiFi bars on your phone. Judge it by the satellite-to-router connection quality in the Orbi app. The ideal spot is halfway between the router and your dead zone, not necessarily in the dead zone itself.

after a power outage, my orbi router has a solid amber light and no internet.

Your 6GHz network (usually YourNetwork_6G) should now appear. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK On your phone, go into WiFi settings and look for an option like "WiFi 6E mode" or "Enable 6GHz band." Once it connects and shows blue, you can move it to its final spot. HEADS UP The initial sync only uses the 5GHz backhaul band. If you're trying to sync through multiple thick walls or a floor, it often fails. Always do the first sync in the same room.
