i'm assembling the desk and the pre-drilled holes in the frame don't line up with my tabletop.

FIX Loosely place the frame on the underside of the tabletop. Align it where you want it. Use a pencil to mark through 2-3 of the pre-drilled holes that DO align. Drill small pilot holes (1/8" bit) at your new marks. Secure the frame with the provided bolts at these points. The other holes can be left unused. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK If no holes align, you must create all new mounting points. Measure carefully to ensure the frame is centered and square before marking and drilling all pilot holes. HEADS UP Do not force the bolts. If they won't thread in, you are not aligned. Forcing them will strip the particleboard, creating a weak mount. Always use pilot holes.

how do i clean the white desktop without damaging it? the manual just says 'damp cloth'.

DIAGNOSIS The surface is a melamine laminate over particleboard. Harsh chemicals or excessive moisture will damage the finish or cause the core to swell. FIX Use a microfiber cloth dampened with only water or a diluted solution of mild dish soap (like Dawn). Wring the cloth until it is barely damp. Wipe the surface, then immediately dry it with a second clean, dry microfiber cloth. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For stubborn stains like permanent marker, use a melamine foam eraser (Magic Eraser) very gently with water. Test in an inconspicuous area first. It will slightly dull the high-gloss finish. HEADS UP Never use abrasive cleaners, ammonia-based glass cleaners, or solvents like acetone or alcohol. They will permanently cloud or strip the laminate finish.

one side of my desk goes up faster than the other, so the whole top looks crooked when moving.

This fixes 90% of tilt issues. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK One of the lift column assemblies is likely failing. Listen closely to each leg during movement. A struggling motor will sound strained. The faulty column needs replacement. HEADS UP Never try to manually force or push the desk to level it during movement. You can damage the gearbox. Let the calibration routine run its course.

the desk is wobbly and shakes a lot when typing at standing height, is this normal?

DIAGNOSIS This is a design characteristic of two-leg (2-stage) desks with a single crossbar. The higher you go, the more leverage any movement has on the legs. FIX Ensure all bolts in the leg assemblies, feet, and crossbar are tightened to specification with the included hex key. Most importantly, the desk must be on a level floor. Adjust the leveling feet on the bottom of each leg to eliminate any rock. A monitor arm mounted directly to the desk will reduce monitor shake. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Consider adding a third-party stability brace or crossbar designed for your desk width. Also, keep heavier items (PC tower, printers) on a separate cart, not on the desk surface. HEADS UP Do not overtighten the bolts connecting the tabletop to the frame. You can strip the particleboard. Snug is enough.

desk won't turn on, no lights on the handset at all. checked the outlet and it's fine.

DIAGNOSIS No power to the control box. The inline fuse on the power cable or the internal fuse in the control box has blown. FIX Locate the small black power brick (the control box) along the desk's cable run. On its side is a small, recessed fuse drawer. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pop it open. Replace the 5A 250V glass fuse (5x20mm size) with an identical one. Plug the desk back in. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The power supply unit inside the black control box has failed. This requires replacement of the entire control box. You must contact Seville Classics for the correct part. HEADS UP A blown fuse is usually a symptom. Check for pinched wires under the desk frame or a motor short before assuming it was a one-time event.

the memory presets on my handset won't save my positions anymore, it just beeps when i try to set them.

DIAGNOSIS The control system lost its power reference. This happens after a long power disconnection or a voltage spike. The desk needs a full recalibration. FIX Lower the desk completely until it stops. Press and hold the 'Down' button on the handset for 5 seconds until you hear a long beep. The desk will now rise to its maximum height and stop. Your memory presets are cleared. Set new positions by moving to your desired height and holding the 'M' button, then the number (1, 2, or 3). IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The handset cable connection at the control box may be loose. Unplug the desk, check the small rectangular connector from the handset is fully seated into the control box, then plug power back in and recalibrate. HEADS UP Always recalibrate after moving the desk or experiencing a power outage. An uncalibrated desk can drive itself into the floor or top out early.

my standing desk makes a loud grinding noise from one leg when going down but not up.

Wipe the entire length of the inner chrome tube on the noisy leg with a dry cloth. Apply a thin coat of white lithium grease or dry silicone lubricant to the tube. Cycle the desk up and down a few times to distribute it. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The plastic guide bushing inside the outer column may be cracked or worn. This requires disassembly of the leg column to inspect. Contact Seville Classics support for a leg replacement if the noise persists after lubrication. HEADS UP Do not use WD-40 or oil-based lubricants. They attract dust and will make the problem worse within weeks.

my seville classics airlift desk just beeps and won't move up or down at all, what's wrong?

DIAGNOSIS The desk is in an anti-collision lockout. The control box detected an overload or obstruction during its last movement cycle. FIX Unplug the desk from the wall outlet. Wait 60 seconds. Plug it back in. The desk will perform a short recalibration sequence. You should hear a single beep. The up/down buttons will now work. IF THAT DIDN'T WORK Check for anything physically jammed under the desk or between the leg columns. A stuck object can keep the system in lockout. Clear any obstruction and repeat the power cycle. HEADS UP Avoid forcing items under the desk frame. The sensors are sensitive. Repeated lockouts can indicate a failing motor or control board.
