Some warmth is normal. Excessive heat triggers the safety shutdown.
The drill has an electronic protection system. It monitors battery temperature and load. If the battery gets too hot, the system will cut power to the tool to prevent damage. This is a safety feature.
- Stop using the tool immediately if the battery is too hot to touch comfortably.
- Remove the battery. Let it cool down completely away from sunlight or heat sources.
- While cooling, check the drill bit. A dull bit or improper use (like excessive pressure) causes overload and heat.
- After cooling, re-attach and resume work with a lighter load.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: If the battery gets excessively hot during light, short tasks, the battery itself may be faulty. Try a different ONE+ battery. If the problem stops, replace the hot battery.
HEADS UP: The protection system is there for a reason. Ignoring repeated overheating can permanently damage the battery cells and is a potential safety risk. Allow cool-down periods during extended use.
