When the blue light flashes rapidly and the voice prompt triggers "filter change," it means the internal counter has reached its programmed threshold—typically 500 gallons or 6 months—and has triggered the alert state. This is a logic-based trigger, not a physical detection of water purity. If you replaced the filters a month ago but are seeing this alert now, the root cause is a failure to successfully "handshake" the reset command with the control pod. This happens when the reset button is not held for the full duration required to clear the previous cycle's memory, or if the unit suffered a momentary power surge that corrupted the current gallon count. Because the system cannot "see" the new filters, it is simply continuing the countdown from the old set of filters, leading to a premature alert.
How to Fix It
To clear the alert and synchronize the monitor with your new filters, you must perform a hard manual reset of the electronic pod. Follow these exact steps:
- Locate the small, recessed reset button on the underside of the indicator pod. You may need a paperclip or a small precision screwdriver if your fingers cannot reach the button.
- Ensure the unit is plugged into a working 120V outlet and the light is currently blinking.
- Press and hold the reset button firmly. Do not release it when the light changes color; continue holding for a full 10 to 12 seconds.
- Listen for the audible "beep" confirmation and watch for the blue light to transition from a rapid flash to a steady, solid blue glow.
- Release the button only after the light has remained solid for at least two seconds.
- Dispense approximately one gallon of water through the dedicated filtered faucet to ensure the system is primed and the flow rate is consistent, which helps the monitor calibrate.
If That Didn't Work
- Perform a Power Cycle Flush: Unplug the power adapter from the wall outlet. While the unit is unplugged, press and hold the reset button for 15 seconds to drain any residual capacitance in the circuit board. Plug the unit back in and immediately attempt the 10-second reset hold again. This clears "ghost" errors in the firmware.
