the normal cycle seems to run forever, like over 3 hours, is that right?

— asked by Alex

Quick answer: Cycle times are excessively long. This is normal operation for sensor cycles.

Diagnosis

Cycle times are excessively long. This is normal operation for sensor cycles. The LDTS5552S uses a soil sensor to adjust time, temperature, and water usage.

How to Fix It

The unit is working as designed. To shorten cycle times, use a non-sensor cycle. Select Heavy Wash or Speed Wash for a fixed, predictable duration. Heavy Wash is approximately 2 hours. Speed Wash is 1 hour but is for lightly soiled loads only.

If That Didn't Work

If a fixed cycle like Heavy also runs excessively long, the water inlet may be restricted. Low water fill time extends cycle duration. Check the water supply valve and inlet hose for adequate flow.

Heads Up

The sensor determines soil by measuring water turbidity. Using rinse aid is critical for sensor accuracy and can indirectly affect cycle efficiency. Ensure the rinse aid dispenser is filled.
