DIAGNOSIS: The wand is clogged with dried milk. It's a single-hole tip, and even a tiny bit of crud completely kills the pressure and pattern. This happens after almost every use if you don't clean it immediately.
FIX: Right after steaming, wipe the wand with a wet cloth, then purge it by turning the steam knob for a few seconds to blow out any residual milk. For an existing clog, let the machine heat up fully on steam mode. Carefully remove the steam wand tip (it unscrews counter-clockwise) and soak it in hot water. Use a pin or paperclip to clear the single hole. Screw it back on and purge again.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: The issue might be timing. Wait for the machine's ready light to come on for steam (about 45 seconds after switching from coffee mode). If you try too soon, you get wet steam.
HEADS UP: Never soak the actual metal wand stem, just the removable tip. Water getting into the solenoid valve is bad news.
