Diagnosis
The tip-over switch is a small plastic plunger or pendulum inside the base that cuts power if the heater tilts. On some UberHeats, the mechanism can be overly sensitive or the spring that resets it can weaken, causing it to trip on minor slopes or vibrations.
How to Fix It
First, ensure you’re using it on a firm, level surface—no thick rugs or carpets that can rock. If the floor is truly level and it still trips, you can check the switch. 1) Unplug the heater and turn it upside down. 2) Remove the four bottom screws and the bottom plate. 3) You’ll see the tip-over switch, usually a small white or black box with a protruding plastic pin or a weighted lever. 4) Gently press and release the pin/lever to feel its action. It should move smoothly and spring back. If it’s sticky, you can try spraying a tiny amount of electronic contact cleaner around the moving part to free it up. Do not lubricate it.
If That Didn't Work
If the switch mechanism seems loose or broken, it should be replaced. It’s a critical safety feature. You can find the part by searching for the Honeywell UberHeat tip-over switch. It typically connects with a simple two-wire plug.
Heads Up
Never, ever bypass or disable the tip-over switch. It’s there to prevent a fire if the heater falls over. A faulty switch should be replaced, not circumvented.
