DIAGNOSIS The opener has lost its programming. Those two dashes mean it's in "default" mode, waiting to be told which remotes and keypads it should listen to. It happens sometimes after a power flicker.
FIX You need to re-pair your devices. 1) On the motor unit, find the yellow "Learn" button. Press and release it. The small LED next to it will light up amber. 2) You have 30 seconds. Go to your wall control panel and press and hold the button you normally use to close the door. Hold it until the opener light flashes or you hear a click. The dashes should go away. 3) Repeat the process for each remote: press the Learn button, then within 30 seconds, press and hold the button on your remote.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The wall control might need a fresh battery, even though it's wired. Pop the unit off the wall and check the 9V battery inside. A weak battery can cause it to lose its programming and fail to re-pair.
HEADS UP When you press the Learn button, you're erasing all previously paired remotes and keypads. You'll need to re-pair every single one you use, including any in-car homelink systems.
