DIAGNOSIS The defrost drain is clogged. This tube carries melted frost water from the evaporator to a drip pan. When clogged, water backs up and leaks into the fridge compartment.
FIX Remove all food and the vegetable drawers. Locate the drain hole at the back of the fridge compartment, near the bottom. Use a turkey baster or a small funnel to flush warm water mixed with a little baking soda down the drain. Use a soft pipe cleaner or a long, flexible straw to gently clear any blockage.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The drain tube may be frozen solid where it passes through the freezer wall. You'll need to unplug the fridge for 24 hours to let it completely thaw.
HEADS UP Do not use wire hangers or stiff tools to clear the drain. You can puncture the liner or crack the plastic drain pan, causing a bigger leak.
