Incorrect cutting depth is causing blade binding and poor cuts. The rule is: less than a full tooth of the blade should be visible below the workpiece.
- Unplug the battery.
- Loosen the depth adjustment lever.
- Place the saw base flat on your workpiece.
- Adjust the base until the blade teeth just barely extend past the material's bottom side. For the XSH03Z, max depth is 57mm (2-1/4") at 0°.
- Tighten the depth locking lever securely before making the cut. If it shifts during cutting, it will cause binding and kickback.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK: Your blade is likely dull or dirty. A sharp, clean blade cuts efficiently without forcing. Gum and wood pitch hardened on blades slows the saw and increases kickback potential. Remove the blade and clean it with a gum and pitch remover, hot water, or kerosene. Never use gasoline.
HEADS UP: Always support the workpiece properly. Never hold the piece being cut in your hands or across your leg. Secure it to a stable platform to minimize blade binding and loss of control.
