Diagnosis
This is the system wake-up delay. The camera's PIR sensor must detect heat, wake the system, and then start recording. A delay of 1-3 seconds is normal, but longer indicates suboptimal placement or settings.
How to Fix It
Optimize placement. Mount the camera 7-10 feet high. Angle it so expected motion crosses the detection field horizontally, not directly toward the lens. Ensure the lens is clean. In the app, verify the camera's firmware is up to date in Device Settings.
If That Didn't Work
The delay may be due to network latency. Check the sync module's connection to your router. A wired Ethernet connection for the sync module is mandatory for best performance. Wireless backhaul to the router adds significant delay.
Heads Up
Extreme ambient temperatures, either hot or cold, can slow the PIR sensor's response time. The operational range is -4°F to 113°F (-20°C to 45°C). Performance degrades near these limits.
