DIAGNOSIS One or more print head nozzles are still clogged. Repeated software cleanings can actually waste a lot of ink without fixing a stubborn clog.
FIX Perform a powerful cleaning cycle from the printer's control panel, not your computer.
1. On the printer screen, press Home > Setup > Maintenance.
2. Select Print Head Cleaning. Choose All Colors and start.
3. After it finishes, immediately print a Nozzle Check Pattern (also in Maintenance).
4. If lines are still missing, wait at least 6 hours, then run one more Print Head Cleaning followed by a Nozzle Check. The wait lets ink penetrate dried clogs.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK For severe clogs, you need to access the print head parking station (where the head rests when off). With printer on and open, power it off at the wall. Dampen a folded paper towel with a few drops of distilled water and place it in the parking station under the head. Let it sit for 12 hours, then power on and run one cleaning cycle.
HEADS UP Never use rubbing alcohol or window cleaner. It can damage the print head permanently. If you don't print color, run a color nozzle check monthly to keep those channels from clogging.
