DIAGNOSIS The scan settings are configured for an unnecessarily high resolution (DPI) and/or file format, creating huge file sizes that bog down processing and transfer.
FIX Adjust the scan settings in the Epson Scan 2 software or your scanning utility.
1. Open Epson Scan 2.
2. Before scanning, click Settings or the gear icon.
3. For document scans, set Document Type to Black & White Document or Color Document, not Photo.
4. Set the Resolution to 300 DPI, not 600 or 1200. This is perfect for text.
5. Set Destination to PDF and choose "Normal" compression, not "High Quality".
6. Save these as your default profile.
IF THAT DIDN'T WORK The slow speed could be due to a poor Wi-Fi connection during network scanning. For a critical scan, connect the printer to your computer via USB temporarily and scan using that connection. If it's fast via USB, your Wi-Fi is the bottleneck.
HEADS UP Scanning in "Auto" mode often defaults to photo settings (high DPI, 24-bit color) for any page with a slight tint, creating a massive file. Manually selecting document mode forces efficient settings.
